Sarah Ann Grace Wharton
The Ghost Of Brazoswood High When the students are all home and all is quite at Brazoswood High school. Reports have claimed the school is not as quite as you would think.. A beautiful lady in a long flowing gown has been spotted on numerous occasions wandering the hallways, floating up the stairs , or simply wandering around the grounds outside of the school. Who is she you ask? Catherine Munson Foster wrote about the ghostly lady. She dated her back to the original owners of the land and referred to her as the Ghost Of Eagle Lake Plantation. Her name being Sarah Ann Grace Wharton, wife of William H Wharton. Why Lady Wharton would be roaming around the high school is anyones guess, Ms. Munson thought she may be trying to find her home which has long been destroyed. I havn't heard anything about the Lady in many many years so I decided I would take it upon myself to investigate. I found an old friend who new someone who had been a janitor for Brazoswood High throughout the eighties and nineties. We were introduced and that's where my story begins....This mans name has been changed to keep his identity from being known. It was a chilly evening in mid-October. Brazoswood had been having some problems with the plumbing so before it got really bad a plumber was called. Mr James had been a janitor for the school for 11 years so he was trusted with the keys and asked to stick around after school hours to let the plumber in at 6 pm. While Mr, James waited he had a few other odds and end projects he thought he could go ahead and get out of his way. While on the second floor of the school Mr James was busy away changing out some lights that had blinking and driving some of the teachers crazy. The school was so quite you could have heard a pin drop. About that time Mr James heard what sounded like a door slam shut. He thought this to be very strange being that the school was locked up tight. He had made arrangements to meet the plumber out front at 6 pm. He walked outside into the hallway and glanced towards the stairway. And there she was...A white transparent lady in a flowing gown floating up the stairs. She got all the way to the top and vanished straight into the wall. The frozen Mr James just stood there. The hair all over his body standing straight up. He claimed he had heard unexplained noises on numerous occasions but NEVER had he seen anything like this. He had heard stories about the Ghost lady from some of the other staff members at the school but always laughed it off saying he would believe it when he saw her with his own 2 eyes. Today when Mr. James talks of his experience you can see the seriousness in his expression. " Nobody" Says Mr James " I mean NOBODY " Is going to tell me I didn't see what I know for a fact I did see!" J Kelly |
